22" LCD display expands options for kiosk, gaming, ATM, and digital signage

New 22" wide LCD displays from Smart Modular Technologies are optimised to deliver the image quality and robustness required by the latest kiosk, gaming, ATM, and digital signage applications.

SMART Modular Technologies Inc. (SMART) has enhanced its popular family of 15, 17, and 19" E Series LCD displays with the introduction of a 22" wide TouchScape E Series displays. The new larger TouchScape displays are RoHS-compliant and optimised to deliver the image quality and robustness required by the latest kiosk, gaming, ATM, and digital signage applications.

Designed with protective glass, surface acoustic wave (SAW), and capacitive touchscreen options, the 22" E Series displays are available with either a wide viewing angle TFT (~178 degrees) for applications that demand enhanced viewing from extreme angles, or with a lower-cost twisted nematic (TN) TFT providing normal viewing angles (~170 degrees). The entire E series product line features a 16:10 aspect ratio, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 300 cd/m2 typical brightness.

According to Joe Kotas, SMART’s Vice President of Business Development for Display and Embedded Products, the new E Series can be used as a direct replacement in designs that already incorporate the 2239L displays from Elo TouchSystems, Inc: "Competitively priced, the SMART TouchScape E Series display offers a broader variety of TFT options as well as enhanced resistance to fluid and dust intrusion, critical features for improving the display's durability and longevity”, said Kotas. The new displays support high-impact graphics while offering a range of standard sizes and customized options, providing time-to-market advantages for application-specific designs.

Sampling now, the TouchScape 22" E Series displays are specifically designed for long-life, high-usage applications where display quality and reliability are critical.
